Jay Z Announces First Project From His New TV/Movie Deal

Last week, Jay Z announced he’d inked a two-year development deal with The Weinstein Co. for various movies and TV shows. In the press release, Hov said a few projects were already in the works, and today, he’s announced the first one. With a six-part docuseries, the Roc Nation mogul will tell the story of Kalief Browder, the high school student who was accused of stealing a backpack, and was sent to Rikers Island for 3 years without trial – two of which were spent in solitary confinement. He committed suicide shortly after his release.


Jay Z Has Inked A 2-Year Movie & TV Deal

Jay Z just signed a two-year movie and television production deal with the Weinstein Company. “I’m excited to tell stories from real-life prophets, whom through their struggles have changed the world for the better, and others whose stories are filled with fantasy and delight,” Hov said in the press release. “Harvey and David [Weinstein] are visionaries both of whom have done this time and time again. I’m already passionate about what we currently have in the pipeline and I’m looking forward to discovering others.”
