Tuesday night, (October 20th) Kendrick Lamar made his orchestra debut at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. The one night only performance featured Kendrick and the National Symphony Orchestra putting on selections of his album ‘To Pimp A Butterfly.’ NSO Pops conductor Steven Reineke opened up prior to the show about what a major honor this is for Hip Hop and the orchestra alike. He said, “It is pretty incredible, this is going to be quite an adventure because you have two very, very different worlds colliding, from a full symphony classical orchestra, with the world of Hip Hop. But it’s not something we’re totally unfamiliar with.” Check out Kendrick Lamar performing ‘These Walls’ below.
