DJ Carisma Talks New Single “Anyway,” #YoungCalifornia, Her Top 5 Emerging Artists & More

DJ Carisma is changing the game…and in more ways than one. The married mommy of one [adooooorable daughter] has not only managed to be a key player in the resurgence of west coast’s hip-hop domination, but she’s done it as a female in a man’s world without being half-naked and using her looks as a crutch. In fact, you’re far more likely to catch the Power 106 DJ in a pair of kicks and a hoodie than you ever will in a dress and some heels, but I guarantee your favorite artist – from Chris Brown to Tyga to YG – will show Carisma a ton more love than you’ll ever see one of these “Instagram models” get. Fresh on the heels of releasing her debut single “Anyway” featuring Sage The Gemini, Tory Lanez, Eric Bellinger and Mishon, I hopped on the phone with Carisma to chop it up about everything from her forthcoming album (due out this fall on RPM MSC) to balancing being a mom with such a busy career, who she feels are the next big things coming out of the West and more. Hit the jump to find out everything you need to know on the woman Ty Dolla $ign couldn’t wait to show love to and that Nicki Minaj dubbed a “queen of radio.” Oh, and be on the lookout for the Young California x Young New York mixtape coming this month, presented by Carisma, Abby De La Rosa, DJ Amen, Dre Sinatra and…

(Photos) From The West To The East: Guess Who Fabolous Hit The Studio With Yesterday!

Late Sunday night into Monday morning, Brooklyn’s own Fabolous was locked in the lab with up-and-coming West coast crooner, Ty Dolla $ign. “Started my career 13 yrs ago with a song called “Can’t Deny It” which featured one of the hottest on the West Coast, Nate Dogg,” Fab wrote on social media. “Now here I am again working wit one of the hottest on the West again. Me & @tydollasign been in the studio making some good music,. Y’all gon get this work!! In my best Loaded Lux voice… And we work til the sun comes up..” Of course, he capped it off with a ton of hilarious hashtags in true Fabolous fashion. I’m excited to hear what these two come up with, especially with the way Fab prefaced the collab. From what I’m told by my little insiders, this track is going to belong to Ty, and may end up on his debut album Free TC, due out later this year on Atlantic Records. However, Loso later posted a photo in the studio with Mariah Carey, so he may be working on a project of his own where this song could live. Either way, I wouldn’t be surprised if our very own Funk Flex makes a movie out of this premiere…and with Ty on the Summer Jam bill, who knows if we may get to see this one live come June 1st! More pics in the gallery! [P.S. Fam, “Can’t Deny…
