Outfielder Carlos Gonzalez has agreed to a 7-year, $80 million contract extension that will keep him with the Colorado Rockies through 2017.

Gonzalez’s breakout year came in 2010 when he hit .336 with 34 Homeruns and 117 RBI’s en route to finishing third in MVP balloting in his first full season last year.

The Rockies have yet to confirm the agreement. Gonzalez’s publicist says the outfielder would be traveling to Denver on Wednesday for a physical, then sign the contract extension.
