Autocar is reporting that Bentley buyers will be able to have their pick between two powerful iterations of the company’s forthcoming 4.0-liter, direct-injection V8. The outlet sources “well-placed figures” as saying that the meaty eight-pot will arrive in both a single-turbo configuration with 415 horsepower and as a twin-turbo beast with a more potent 555 horsepower. The move is expected to be part of the Bentley crusade to offer more than 100 horsepower per liter in the Continental GT.

The smaller eight-pots are only part of the effort to deliver more diversification to the Continental range, and a smaller, less powerful V8 in place of the mighty W12 currently found under the hood might drop the price tag enough to allow the brand to be more accessible to the aspirational money-spenders of the world.
