According to the criminal complaint filed last week, former Penn State assistant coach Jerry Sandusky faces a maximum of 460 years in jail if he is found guilty of all the sexual abuse offenses he has been accused of.
The criminal complaint, obtained exclusively on Thursday by myFOXphilly.com, was filed by Pennsylvania state police and the state attorney general’s office on Nov. 4.
The most serious criminal count is deviate sexual intercourse with an underage complainant, which is a first-degree felony. Under the state code for sex crimes, the maximum sentence for each count is 40 years.
Sandusky, who has maintained his innocence, faces six first-degree felonies for deviate sexual intercourse, so he would potentially be sentenced to 240 years under subsection C of state code governing sexual offenses — just for those six offenses.
In addition, he faces four counts for first-degree felonies for unlawful contact with a minor. Each count would have a maximum sentence of 20 years.
The 67-year-old also faces one second-degree felony charge for aggravated indecent assault. The potential maximum is 10 years.
There are also nine types of third-degree felony charges, which each carries a potential five-year sentence.
So for felonies, former defensive coordinator Sandusky faces 375 years in maximum sentences on 20 felony charges, myFOXphilly.com reported.
In addition, Sandusky faces five misdemeanor-two charges and 15 misdemeanor-one charges.
Each misdemeanor-two charge has a two-year maximum sentence, while a misdemeanor-one charge has a five-year maximum sentence, leading to 85 years in possible misdemeanor charges.
