Morgan Freeman, who has played the role of God in two movies, made some controversial comments about whether or not he believes that there is a God. Freeman is set to host “Through the Wormhole With Morgan Freeman” on the Science Channel and said that he thinks “we invented God.” Read more below.
Does playing God onscreen give you unique insight into deity? The Science Channel seems to think so: It cast Morgan Freeman as the host of its new series, “Through the Wormhole With Morgan Freeman.”
When TheWrap asked the man with the magnificent voice about one of the coming episodes, titled “Did we invent God?,” the distinguished actor didn’t hold back.
Yes […] Well, here’s a scientific question: Has anybody ever seen hard evidence? What we get is theories from our earlier prophets. Now, people who think that God invented us think that the Earth can’t be more than 6,000 years old. So I guess it’s a question of belief. My belief system doesn’t support a creator as such, as we can call God, who created us in His/Her/Its image.
Freeman said answering whether he was an atheist or agnostic was “hard” because the actor thinks “we invented God.”
“So if I believe in God, and I do, it’s because I think I’m God,” he said.
“Through the Wormhole” is a show that deals with weighty philosophical questions like the existence of God and whether we’re alone in the universe.
“The question of if we’re alone only occurs to you every now and then, when you look up and say, ‘Oh goodness, this can’t be all there is,'” Freeman told HuffPost earlier this year. “If you are going to try to logically answer the question of if we’re alone in the universe, the answer is, ‘We can’t be.’â€
Freeman famously played the Almighty in “Bruce Almighty” and its sequel, “Evan Almighty.” He’s set to star as the Earth-bound Lucius Fox in “The Dark Knight Rises,” which is out in theaters on July 20.

Talking about the existence of God! I have no problem with any fellow human being. If the God you are talking about has anything to do with the main religions we know, then he is the most wicked being you can think of. You human are better than Him in terms of goodwill. The God indirectly tells the people in a given religion that their religion is the only one he appreciates and trusts; that other religions do not know him (God). If anybody will stop, look and think, events happening between religions will convince them about what I said. Yet the same God goes to the people in another religion and indirectly tells them the same thing he said to the people in the first mentioned religion. Have you asked yourself why the religions do not agree with each other? Do you think they behave according to their volition? This was proved after many years of observation and servitude.
Listen, if you read some of the religious books, you will see some good teachings that will help somebody live a good life. What is good life to me is, “Do to people as you would like them to do to you; do not do to people what you would not like them do to youâ€. In those religious books, you will still see teachings that bring enmity among humanity. Why should that be? I am highly against the spirit behind the books because that spirit causes disunity. Anybody that pays a closer attention to events will quickly realize this. When you realize this, do not put your hand into evil. Love your neighbor as yourself.
Behold a time is coming when we will understand what religion is all about in the existence of humanity. No wonder some people get angry whenever the issue about religion is raised. It is not necessary pointing accusing fingers to your fellow human beings. Listen to me. You have no reason to conclude that you are serving the supreme god and the other person is serving the wrong god. For you to judge a case between two people, you must listen to the statements of the two – made before at least you and them. Religion is not to be held tightly by anybody. I am speaking from a very sad experience!
Again, no wonder some people see religion as an instrument of disunity among humanity. When two or more people live together, the only thing that can ensure peace among them is well articulated law, which must be enforced. Giving room for religion among them is disastrous. The different sects say their god is the supreme god. Take note that they receive messages from their gods. Based on the messages you receive from your god, you are wrong to claim he is the supreme god if he does not declare his supremacy before you and all the other people in other sects. Mark my word! I speak from a sad experience! You will discover that the two (or more) parties are serving the same god. Religion!
Now is time for humanity to think well. In our existence on earth, what we should strive to do is to make positive impacts. Help and support people to live; work towards a better live for all. Remove your mind from anything religion. It causes disunity. I am speaking from a sad experience! Till date, nobody knows why religion has been planted (with various names) to cause disunity among mankind.
The earth will be a better place to spend the short life we have in it if people and societies enact their own rules and laws and abide by them. Remove religion by all means. Go to any society that is so attached to religion and report back to me her progress in life.
