Anthony was acquitted in Florida in 2011 for the murder of her toddler daughter, Caylee Anthony. The evidence against her was determined to be circumstantial, thus leading the jury to find her not guilty. This verdict came much to the shock and dismay of America’s general public, who was convinced that she was guilty and literally getting away with murder.

The Anthony case has been one of the most high profile murder cases in recent years. Caylee Anthony was the 2 year-old daughter of then, single mother, Casey Anthony. She was pictured often partying with friends and dancing the night away. Her image sank from poor, single mother to party animal and murderer as the story of this case began to unravel to the public. Caylee was reported missing by her grandmother on July 11, 2008 and the search for her began.

From the beginning of the investigation, Casey Anthony’s story was filled with holes, embellished stories and inaccuracies that led police on a wild goose chase. Though she was reprimanded for lying to police, she was still acquitted of the murder of her daughter. Initially, Anthony waited to report her daughter missing, which baffled her parents, George and Cindy Anthony. Cindy called 9-1-1 to report her granddaughter missing, saying that she hadn’t seen Caylee in 31 days. Cindy Anthony also conveyed to the 9-1-1 operator that her daughter, Casey’s car, smelled as though it had a dead body in it.
