A handgun was found in a package of frozen ribs in a New Mexico store. Authorities say that a worker in an Albertsons store was stunned when they opened up a package of ribs and found a hand gun and ammunition. They turned over the evidence for a pending investigation on where the gun and ammo came from. Hit the jump for more.

The New Mexico police are scratching their heads about the gun found in the package of ribs yet they have some clues. The package was sent from Colorado, it was marked with the date June 8 2011, and authorities are checking to see if the gun was involved in any crimes. The the semi-automatic Rock Island Armory .38 Super was not reported stolen, though a ballistics trace could take weeks.
