Wonder what it’s like to cook for the bawse? Well look no further than Chef Jeremiah. Not only did he launch one of the first food trucks Miami has ever seen, but he is also the personal chef of Rick Ross. Check out his interview and the hilarious Reebok video between Ross & Jeremiah below!
Who are you:
Jeremiah Bullfrog
Years in Miami:
Born and raised in the county of Dade.
Favorite childhood memory in Miami?
Sunshine and sand.
Current neighborhood:
Edgewater
Current gig:
gastroPod owner, PicklePeoples president, Rick Ross’s personal chef.
Favorite ‘Only in Miami’ moment?
When the hooker from our block, Maggie, came to wash dishes for a few weeks. She would disappear (on some no doubt heroine benders), and pop back up clean every once and a while.
What’s your idea of a perfect day in Miami?
Spending the day with family.
395 or 195?
Neither, the Venetian Causeway.
Where do you take out-of-towners visiting Miami?
To eat: La Camaronera, Palacio de Los jugos, Clive’s.
We’ve seen the Rebook commercial. Are you and Rick Ross buddies?
I am his chef. The first time I met he asked for my phone number and said, “When I call, it’s not cuz I wanna go to the movies.”
What’s it like cooking for the Bawse?
A typical call goes like: “A yo Bullfrog. Eight o’clock. 15 people. Make it sexy.”
You’ve cooked in some of the most notorious kitchens in the world from elBulli to WD-50. Which was the best restaurant to work for?
I have been fortunate enough to spend time in some badass kitchens in my career. Noma in Copenhagen was probably the most inspiring and at the same time pretty cool vibe. Came back very inspired with a new look on food.
You had gastropod out on Miami streets before the food truck craze. How has the scene changed since you first launched the airstream?
Back in the day was like the Wild Wild West. Then the market got over saturated with like 200 trucks. After three years in the game, we just do our own thing.
How would you describe your culinary style?
Hustling
Last big project you did:
PicklePeoples is our pet project. We launched the brand late summer and have been working on our presentation of product. Pretty soon we plan to provide our pickles to the public.
Upcoming projects you’re working on:
A neighborhood dining destination.
Why do you hate Miami?
It can be a stagnant bubble.
Why do you love Miami?
It’s my home.
What are three local meals you can’t live without?
Pho 78, my wife’s rice and beans, and Mo’Betta Burger from the gPod
In a word or two or three, Miami is…
N.L.S
