Activision Blizzard

Activision Blizzard announced yesterday that the company will be purchasing the shares owned by Vivendi Universal. The re-acquisition is said to cost $8 billion with Activision putting up $5.3 billion. Even the Ceo and an investment group forking up the rest. Even the CEO Bobby Kotick and Co-Chairman Brian Kelly invested $100 million combined just to get this deal done.

After the deal is finalized, in a press release the company stated, “Activision Blizzard will be an independent company with the majority of its shares owned by the public.” Vivendi bought the company 5 year ago and helped bring games such as Call of Duty and World of Warcraft to gamers and also helped generate $5.4 in operating cash flow. Kotick wrote, “We are grateful for Vivendi’s partnership through this period, and we look forward to their continued support.” The transaction should be finalized soon.
