It seems like there has been nothing but slander in the media regarding Johnny Manziel ever since he won the Heisman trophy. It sometimes seems as if there is a campaign in place to bring this young man down intentionally. I am not necessarily saying that is true, but it damn sure can come off like that. This week however a couple different current NFL stars had nice words to say about Johnny, and Vikings running back Adrian Peterson completely came to his defense yesterday. Hit the jump for more.

When Peterson was asked if he feels college football players should be paid, he responded with a pretty clear answer:

“I think so. The universities are making a lot of money off of student-athletes in general. So, yeah, he should be able to make money. I think so. They make millions off of these college athletes and they made millions off of the guys I played with as well. Yeah, he should be getting paid. I think if you are in a position to where people want to pay you for your autographs or signatures, then you should be able to do that. He’s a young man and he should be able to sign his name on a helmet or wherever without it being an issue.”

As many of you may know, Manziel is under investigation for being paid to sign autographs, which if found to be true, could severely impact his college football career, as ridiculous as that sounds. The NCAA can be a very hypocritical organization, which is why more recently many more people involved in college sports are speaking out against them and their so called policies. Hopefully Manziel will be able to play this season without incident.
