Divers are searching the sunken ferry for dozens missing. 31 are confirmed dead, and hundreds of people have been rescued so far. The crash sent passengers jumping into the water to save themselves from being trapped. The vessel sank in waters about 100-feet deep.

Jenalyn Labanos, a survivor of the crash, stated, “the ferry quickly tilted to its side after the impact and sank about 20 minutes later. People panicked and the crew later handed out life vests and used their flashlights to guide us out of the ship but they could not control the passengers because the ship was already tilting.”

She was left no choice, but to jump off into the ocean and she said, “I just thought to myself that I have to survive this. I left everything, my bag, my money and my passport.”

Other survivors said the majority of the passengers were sleeping at the time of the crash, while others struggled to find their way in the dark.
