Nidal Hasan

The Fort Hood shooter, also known as Nidal Hassan, has been convicted on 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted murder after the 2009 shooting spree that killed 13 and injured 30+.

As Maj. Nidal Hasan sat in the court room with no emotions on his face, the judge delivered the well-deserved verdict. The former Muslim-born Army psychiatrist now qualifies for the death penalty after the 11 men and 2 women on the jury unanimously found Hasan guilty.

Hasan has been serving as his own lawyer throughout the 13-day trial, but he only presented one single piece of evidence to help prove his innocence. There has not been an active-duty United Stated soldier executed in the military court system since 1961. However, this soldier-turned-murderer will now pay for his actions behind bars until his fate is decided.
