Hindsight is 20/20. No pun intended. 29-year-old Cameron Bay, who is responsible for the recent HIV outbreak in the porn industry was relatively new to the business when she went public with her test results. It was from her, that Anthony Weiner’s notorious sext partner, Sydney Leathers, could have been exposed. Check out what Bay has to say after the jump.
First, Bay would like to address the adult film producers. She’s calling for them to press the issue of using condoms on set. From that, she elaborates to the Huffington Post that she was naive to trust industry STD tests and said other performers told her not to ask for condoms.
“I learned that there’s always someone younger and sexier, willing to do something you’re not. I think we need more choices because of that. Condoms should be a choice.”
It was only a few months ago that she performed her first scene. Only 9 months later, she tested positive. Despite the relatively small time period in which she contracted the disease, she is still unsure of the source. What she does know, is that none of her coworkers used condoms. According to the interview, Bay stated that another actress told her, “Don’t even bring it up because they have somebody waiting to replace you.”
In addition to her HIV test, due to her (now former) occupation, Bay’s health insurance doesn’t even cover her medical needs. So far, it costs her $2,000 a month to curb the effects of the deadly disease. While that’s cutting into her savings, she has plans to launch a fund that will accept donations for treatment. And, if that doesn’t work, she has plans to do solo shows.
She later released a statement saying, “If I could beat my own deamons as a teen I can definitely beat this disease.”

Her gay boyfriend, who does gay porn and gay escorting mind you, is positive. However, none of the last few people (guys and girls) she worked with during the actual filming of a porn movie are positive. Unless she escorts/hooks and doesn’t want to divulge some “private” encounter that potentially exposed her to be ridiculed further by the masses, then I think she knows full damn well the source. It’s tragic and certainly could have been avoided, but please quit blaming people/the industry for your bad decisions.

What kind of insurance doesn’t cover HIV meds? If her salary is low enough (I’d venture to say she doesn’t do porn anymore) she can have her medication given to her for free.
