After an Oakland hospital declared 13-year-old Jahi McMath brain-dead after experiencing trauma from a tonsil surgery, her parents were not ready to let their little girl go just yet. Although both the judge and doctors from Children’s Hospital of Oakland concluded that there was no saving McMath, the 8th grader’s parents were able to get the same judge to extend the deadline to 5 p.m. (8 p.m. ET) on January 7, 2014 before they pull the plug.

The hospital has granted McMath’s family permission to transport their daughter to an undisclosed location. However, they made it clear that the hospital is not responsible for any mishaps Jahi may undergo after leaving the premises. According to the doctors, there is a huge chance that the girl’s heart may stop during the move after she’s no longer hooked up to the ventilator.
