I knew it wasn’t long before someone did something disrespectful… SMH! Carondelet High School for Girls in Concord, California has stirred up some controversy after their cafeteria served fried chicken, corn bread, and watermelon, which is common soul food, in honor of Black History Month. The parents and students of the private Catholic school were completely outraged, as they should be. Although the school officials refused to speak to the media, they did send out a letter of apology.

“I’d like to apologize for the announcement and any hurt this caused students, parents or community members,” Principal Nancy Libby said in the letter. “Please know that at no time at Carondelet do we wish to perpetrate racial stereotypes.”
