Dangerous Tattoo Inks

Last month, California company White and Blue Lion Inc. recalled inks in in-home kits after testing confirmed bacterial contamination in unopened bottles, according to sources. More info after the jump.

So far, only one infection has come from the brand. What’s unfortunate is that infections due to tattoos usually stem from dirty needles or unclean areas. Hepatitis, staph infections and even the MRSA have been tied to tattoos.

The ink can carry bacteria that can spread through the bloodstream — a process known as sepsis. Symptoms are fever, shaking chills and sweats.
