Monday, Aug. 18 Taylor Swift released the visual to her dance track, “Shake it Off.” The song’s title became an instant trending topic on twitter. Pop lovers were excited, but then there was Earl Sweatshirt – the Odd Future rapper who was not feeling Taylor’s portrayal of, “black stereotypes,” he tweeted.

Sweatshirt first tweeted:

“perpetuating black stereotypes to the same demographic of white girls who hide their prejudice by proclaiming their love for the culture”

Without even watching the video, Earl’s perception of “u>Shake it Off” was that it was, “inherently offensive and ultimately harmful.” While I get where he’s coming from, I can’t say that I agree with him 100%. We could easily switch things around and use Yo Gotti’s “Errbody” visual as an example.

Check out what else the Loiter Squad talent had to say in the gallery and then let us know how you feel. Is the video making fun of the hip hop culture (or stereotyping) or is it art?! Drop your thoughts in the comments.
