Thomas Eric Duncan died earlier this month from Ebola. Around 40 people gathered for the funeral of Duncan at a Southern Baptist church.

Friends and family remembered Duncan as being a “big-hearted and compassionate” man. Duncan’s neighbors in Liberia believe he was infected by helping a pregnant woman who later died from Ebola. It is still unsure if Duncan knew about her having Ebola before he traveled to the United States. Duncan’s family member stated ‘Eric would have been out there and helped that woman..’and he would have done everything that he needed to do for that woman to make sure she was fine.’

Duncan is survived by four children. None of his children could attend the funeral. The four people living in the apartment where Duncan stayed in Dallas, are expected to leave quarantine sometime next week after being in incubation for a 21-day period for Ebola.
