Former MLB outfielder and designated hitter Jose Canseco is undergoing surgery after accidentally shooting his left middle finger, his fiancée told the Los Angeles Times.
Canseco’s fiancée Leila Knight told the Times that Canseco was cleaning his handgun and there was still a round in the chamber because Canseco had recently visited the shooting range.
“I heard the gun go off and saw his middle finger hanging by a string,” she said. “It will either have to be amputated or have full reconstruction surgery.”
Knight also said doctors have told Canseco that he will never have full use of his hand again.
