The 21-year-old rapper, Chance The Rapper has been awarded by Illinois’ mayor, Rahm Emanuel for being nothing short of, “outstanding” in his contributions to the youth in the state known for its extreme violence.

Chance calls the ‘Outstanding Youth of The Year’ award an, “honor to bear” and adds that it’s the “most important award I will ever win.”

The plaque reads:

For Your Outstanding Contributions To The Youth Of The State Of Illinois. You Have Given Of Yourself To The Upward Mobility Of Young People Throughout The State Of Illinois.

In order to prevent gun violence in the state of Il. for Memorial Day, Chance and his, “pops” created the #SaveChicago campaign. Chance’s father had spoken with schools, churches and other businesses to get on the ‘put your guns down’ wagon, which resulted in no deaths for 42 hours.
