When the Steelers surprisingly loss to the Jets last Sunday, many fans were shocked and immediately searched for reasons. When it was discovered that Bieber visited the team before the game, everyone immediately blamed him. Roethlisberger reacted to the conspiracy theory today during an interview with ESPN. Hit the jump to see what he had to say.

Via CBS Sports:

Forget about the fact that Ben Roethlisberger threw two interceptions or that the Steelers lost two fumbles or that the defense allowed a one-win Jets offense to score 20 points. No, the real villain for Pittsburgh was Justin Bieber (and I don’t know anyone sane who would disagree).

Remember, it was Bieber who strangely showed up at Steelers bible study on Saturday night to meet with players and to take pictures looking like he badly had to use the toilet. The next day, the Steelers looked awful.

Coincidence? I don’t see how.

But Roethlisberger isn’t buying the near-universal theory.

“That’s not a big deal at all,” Roethlisberger said on 93.7 The Fan in Pittsburgh, via ESPN.com. “For instance, [former Steelers wide receiver] Plaxico Burress stopped by. Obviously he’s family, but people stop by all of the time and say, ‘Hi,’ and we’ve had other athletes, actors, celebrities, stuff like that stop by. It’s not a big deal at all.”

Wait a minute. Bieber AND Burress were there at the same time?!? Unlike Roethlisberger’s last sentence, that might be the biggest deal of all.

And remember, the Steelers were all so excited to snap photos with Bieber.
