A rare black baby elephant has been placed with a family of white elephants in Burma. White and black elephants are very rare but when found they are usually in southeast Asia. Accounts of these elephants go way back into Burmese history. White elephants were historically owned by monarchs and looked upon as symbol of power and prosperity. Its common belief in Burma that white and black elephants only appear where Buddhism flourishes and people in power govern well. Its truly a miracle to see such rare occurrences take place. Hopefully these elephants continue to thrive and populate.
