Zoe Saldana finally gives birth to twins with her husband Marco Perego in a Los Angeles hospital. Read more on the story after the jump!

A friend of the couple says that “Zoe has been ready to drop for some time and they are both ecstatic to be meeting the twins…This [is] a dream come true for both of them, they are absolutely delighted. They have been looking forward this day for the last nine months..Both want a big family so this is the start.” It was reported in October that the 36-year-old star and her Italian husband, who she secretly married in June 2013, were expecting twin boys.

The “Guardians of the Galaxy” star told Entertainment Weekly that she will take time off from work when her twins arrive. She says,”I’m not going to rip my child off my tit to go work…It’s nature! Like, you just cannot [go to work]. What kind of mother would I be? There’s no choice. It’s like, ‘What, you want me to leave my newborn so that I can work 16 hours on your set? He’s only a month old, are you out of your mind?”

Saldana who is set to star in three upcoming installments of “Avatar” spoke to E! News and said that she has no choice but to be ready for it, “whether I’m ready for it or not, it’s inevitable..I’m there. I’m in it. So, I’m gonna have to be ready…the one thing I keep telling myself is I don’t ever want to overflow my cup of patience,” she added. “Trying to become an adult before I become a mother is very important for me, because I don’t want my bad day…to be my children’s price to pay. I definitely don’t want to do that” she said. Saldana also says that she will teach her children to be bilingual, she told Cosmo for Latinas, “Of course [our children] will speak the languages that we speak..my sisters and I grew up learning French and speaking English and Spanish, and because of that, we’re able to understand Italian and Portuguese. But I’m going to have to make a conscious effort to speak Spanish to my children, because I speak Spanglish.”
