It’s official, Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon suspended and will not play in the NFL for the 2015-16 season but will he ever play again?

Josh Gordon failed another test, this time it was for alcohol not marijuana.  Gordon was ordered not to drink after being arrested for a DUI plus he was already on thin ice after failing tests for weed.

The league released an official statement saying, “Josh Gordon of the Cleveland Browns has been suspended without pay for at least one year for violating the NFL Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse. Gordon’s suspension begins immediately.”

The “at least one year” part indicates that the suspension could be longer, Gordon isn’t guaranteed to be reinstated after the year is up.  The NFL said something similar when handing out Adrian Peterson’s suspension as they listed several things he has to do to be reinstated.  It’s unclear if Gordon was given a list as well but obviously sobriety will definitely be one of the conditions.

Most reporters think this latest suspension means the Browns will not bring Gordon back but they released this statement.

“As we have conveyed, we are disappointed to once again be at this point with Josh,” Farmer said. “Throughout his career we have tried to assist him in getting support like we would with any member of our organization. Unfortunately our efforts have not resonated with him. It is evident that Josh needs to make some substantial strides to live up to the positive culture we are trying to build this football team upon. Our hope is that this suspension affords Josh the opportunity to gain some clarity in determining what he wants to accomplish moving forward and if he wants a career in the Nation Football League. We will have no further comment on Josh as he will not be permitted in our facility for the duration of his suspension.”

Even if the Browns decide to part ways with Gordon, he’s only 23-years old and extremely talented, there’ll definitely be teams interested.  Hopefully he is able to turn his life around.
