School Bus Driver Busted for Selfie

When it’s almost time to clock-out and that TURN UP! bug hits…Work can be a drag but sometimes you need to just turn-DOWN and finish your shift. An Ohio woman is learning that the hard way as she’s earned the headline of School Bus Driver Busted for Behind the Wheel Booze Selfie that went viral (SMH)!

The actual picture of the School Bus Driver Busted for Behind the Wheel Booze Selfie reveals the cap is still on the bottle, but the driver (whose name has not been released) has since been suspended. Spokesperson of the First Student Bus Company Jen Biddinger stated concern was acknowledged as soon as they became aware, while District Superintendent Ed Theroux of the Cincinnati Public School (CPS) system which provides the service to 33,000 kids expressed “our main concern is the safety and security of our students.”

The First Student Bus Company has issued an official statement regarding the School Bus Driver Busted for Behind the Wheel Booze Selfie as follows:

“We understand and share in the concern this photo has caused the Princeton community. As soon as we became aware of the photo, we immediately began an internal review of the matter. We are incredibly disappointed by our driver’s actions.

While we have determined the photo was taken at the end of the driver’s route; that no students were on board; and, that the bottle was unopened, this behavior is completely unacceptable. Behavior such as this does not align with company policy and the high standards First Student strives for in all we do.”

Janet Walsh, the director of public affairs for CPS says the School Bus Driver Busted for Behind the Wheel Booze Selfie is an isolated incident. While she notes “it’s totally inappropriate and unfortunate,” sources report the bus company had previously been “chronically understaffed” and suffering from a “national problem of attracting bus drivers.” While she declines standards are being lowered to compensate, it’s clear the job involves a heightened combination of low pay, stress and pressure–one could say making it harder for employees to get through each day. But…still.

Is this all well placed hype and yet another #NoChill reason to stop with the incriminating selfies???
