Saturday Night Live is definitely known for its axe-grinding skits and impersonations, never taking itself too seriously and managing to cover everything from entertainment’s biggest stars to politicians. A handful of people who’ve been spoofed have agreed to appear side by side with their caricatures in the past…but this one’s a little different. The face-off came to a head on MSNBC’s Politics Nation which is one of the Rev’s regular gigs. The tension for Al Sharpton Faces Kenan Thompson After His “Al Sharpton” SNL Spoof wasn’t too bad, though the social justice icon did manage to slip in that Kenan “should lose some weight like he did.” (LOL, OK Rev!). While Kenan explained he used to be a little nervous meeting the people he impersonates, the Al Sharpton Faces Kenan Thompson After His “Al Sharpton” SNL Spoof meeting went well, with Rev. even calling his impression “flattering.”
Always a colorful character, Al Sharpton Faces Kenan Thompson is the latest headline for the Reverend since his blast of the Oscar nominations. Guessing more* press is good press as he’s never too far or too down from controversy, for instance most skipped past the whole, ‘getting paid to not cry racism at corporations’ thing (yikes).
