Afroman Punches Female in the Face On Stage

Definitely can’t use the “Because I Got High” line on this one: Afroman Punches Female in the Face On Stage with a “mean uppercut” during a concert this evening in Biloxi, Mississippi (SMH!!!)…

Afroman Punches Female in the Face On Stage during a set at the Kress Live Music Venue in which the rapper was playing guitar (sidebar: he’s mean with that guitar, ahem–) when he reportedly “upper-cutted” a woman who came on stage, taking the whole “I’m an artist and I’m sensitive about my sh*t” defense to highly inappropriate heights. But is that the whole truth?

On site (as usual) the Twitter-verse immediately set a buzz with a few preliminary accounts of the Afroman Punches Female in the Face On Stage situation–as factual as one can be in 140 characters of course:

“AFROMAN JUST PUNCHED THIS WOMAN ON STAGE AND GOT ARRESTED AND I JUST WITNESSED THIS” @savbelcher

The defense for Afroman Punches Female in the Face On Stage according to TMZ is he “didn’t know the fan’s gender and that security had done a poor job of keeping people off stage.” Guess if you want something done…you got to uppercut ’em yourself??? The young woman came up to do a little ‘twerk’ on the side of the rapper but on contact he instantly launched a swift “haymaker” and unfortunately she went down hard, fast, and bleeding reportedly (yikes). Afroman kept the show going “until the house lights came up and the music stopped,” he was seen later handcuffed outside the venue.

“Police Chief John Miller said 40-year-old Joseph Edgar Foreman, a.k.a. Afroman, was placed under citizen’s arrest and later released after posting a $330 bond at police headquarters.”

When you watch the footage though, it really looks like he was caught off guard in the *worst* way (the reflexes were so incredible, doesn’t seem like he even got a look honestly)…but she definitely did go down HARD and he did get right back to it like nothing happened. (Never come up behind, or even on the side of Afroman). Though details still developing (and hopefully the young woman is OK!) Afroman’s representative says this is ‘totally out of his character.’ So far no charges have been pressed, but this is a really unfortunate incident for the woman just trying to have a good time, and a man who was always about good vibes and music to match. Looks like show money’s gonna be slow for a while (SMH).
