Kanye Curates for CR Fashion Book

While they keep hating he keeps creating: Kanye West Curates Art Collection for “Blud Rush” in the latest issue of CR Fashion Book’s featured spread!

If you’re rolling your eyes over the label “curator” being added to Yeezy season, swallow the facts. Kanye West Curates Art Collection for “Blud Rush” according to Complex and NY Mag, contributing a few pieces to the editorial and bringing his insight from Hip Hop, production, visual art, aiming at being Steve Jobs and experiences as a fashion designer to the table:

“That’s right, Kanye has legitimized this title by assembling a selection of artwork inspired by the publication’s “jolie laide” theme—a celebration of unconventional beauty.”

Before inveiling the works in Kanye West Curates Art Collection for “Blud Rush” the mega-star had this to say:

“To create an expression is close to innoncence [sic]. Childhood is stolen from you with every judgment made, innocence stolen with it. You go into a room alone and try to collect the pieces of your life and meet your monster.

Everyone has a monster that hunts them—monsters inside and outside. I have fought monsters. And have turned into a complete monster in the midst of the fight.”

‘Chuuch.’ Additional artists on the project include Richard Prince, Cecily Brown, his “FourFiveSeconds” partner in crime the legendary Paul McCartney, and Anish Kapoor–who’s recently gotten the nod of respect from Jay-Z and Beyonce. The Queen Bey and First Lady of Ye Kim Kardashian have also been featured artists in the past. This is the latest headline between Hip Hop and the art world since Chris Brown’s art at Miami’s Urban Art Week sold for $60 million. As for Ye–how do you feel about more Hip Hop artists getting deeper in the art and fashion scenes???
