Skeme

Is I-G-G-Y a L-I-A-R? Possibly. The Australian raptress has always adamantly denied rumors that she doesn’t write her own lyrics – something that for whatever reason, many feel is a skill that women who rap don’t possess like their male counterparts.

In a new interview with Sway In The Morning, however, Iggy’s past collaborator Skeme (an up-and-comer from Inglewood, CA) sort of spilled the beans on his parts of her smash hit, “Fancy.”

“Yeah, we had something to do with it,” Skeme responded to Sway after trying to change the subject. “A lot of vibe, a lot of push. We about to put trust funds up for that song.”

He clarified that the hook was written by its performer, Charli XCX, and as for the popular line, “Who dat? Who dat? I-G-G-Y”?

“Come on, I’m a Saints fan. I got the tattoo.”

Now, this still doesn’t necessarily make Iggy a “liar,” as ALL artists have help writing songs. EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. (I mean, you’ve seen the credits for Ye’s “All Day.”) And particularly when it comes to needing a “radio single” when you’re getting pressure from the label, sometimes artists will take a full song entirely written by someone else, despite their own abilities to pen tracks.

Still, I’m sure if Iggy was still on social media, we’d be getting a long-winded response from her right about now, likely detailing how Skeme simply “added input” to “help” her write the song.
