After winning the 2014 Finals MVP, Kawhi Leonard of the Sand Antonio Spurs just added more hardware to his trophy case, winning the 2015 Defensive Player of the year award. Leonard beat out front runners Deandre Jordan and Draymond Green of the Los Angeles Clippers and Golden State Warriors respectively.
Averaging 7.2 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game, Leonard helped lead the 6th-seed San Antonio Spurs to the 6th seed in the west. Often given the task of guarding the opposing teams best wing player, Leonard continued to bring energy every night on both ends of the floor on a consistent basis.
Although Greene received the most first place votes, Leonard edged him out 333-317 in total votes for the award. Leonard is the first defensive wing player to win the award since Ron Artest in 2004, according to @MrMichaelLee
Congratulations to Kawhi Leonard!
