Starbucks spokesman Jim Olsen told CNN “Yes its true” “The point of sale cash registers are down in the U.S. and Canada. It is not a hack. It happened during a typical daily menu refresh on the system. Something went wrong and they are working as quickly as possible to get them up.” In fact this morning Starbucks released a statement saying they apologized for the inconvenice and confusion and that the computer anomaly has been fixed. The stores are set to open as usual this morning.
