NCAA Men's Basketball Championship: Florida v OSU

After the Oklahoma City Thunder announced the firing of long time head coach Scott Brooks, they seem to have found his successor. Billy Donovon is expected to be named the next head coach of the Thunder as early as Thursday and may have a press conference set up for him as well depending on how fast contract negotiations go.

Donovon has spent the last 19 seasons as the coach of the Florida Gators where he’s won two national championships, last winning back-toback championships in 2005-06 and again in 2006-07.

Under his tutelage at Florida, players such as Joakim Noah, Al Hortford, Bradley Beal and Corey Brewer have reached successful careers in the NBA.

Although Donovon has no prior NBA Head-coaching experience, he had agreed to be the head coach of the Orlando Magic in 2007, but then changed his mind and returned to Florida.

Donovon has spent the last 19 seasons with the Gators, compiling a 467-186 record with two national championships, six regular season Southeastern Conference titles and four conference tournament titles.
