Barack Obama seeks to mend relationship with Cuba even further by lifting the ban on ferries between the two countries. Find out more after the jump!

“This is a significant opportunity to advance U.S. – Cuba relations, a significant green light of the new U.S.-Cuba relationship and a major proponent of the people-to-people policy endorsed by the Obama Administration.” Stated James D. Whisenand, attorney for America Cruise Ferries about the new licenses issued on Tuesday.

In April Obama met with Cuban leader Raul Castro, the first time a U.S President has sat down with the leader of Cuba in years.

The transportation between U.S and Cuba will soon be accessible by ferry, being a few 90 miles apart by sea. The number of licenses issued is not certain and there are still restrictions to be followed but it’s progress.
