After what seems like an endless cycle of tearing someone down, first round draft pick Jameis Winston finally gets back at his accuser. Winston has reportedly filed a counter suit on the grounds of character defamation. Click more to read the full story!

In December 2013, the controversy that surrounded Jameis Winston–right before he was up for the Heisman Trophy–after no criminal charges were pressed against him for lack of evidence in rape allegations was everywhere. His accuser, Erica Kinsman, has since been trying to make up for the lost cause that never went to court.

Right before the NFL Draft, Kinsman filed a lawsuit against Winston and again accused him of “sexual battery, assault, false imprisonment, and intentionally inflicting emotional distress.” The argument of character defamation from Winston’s side definitely seems valid since she happened to file this lawsuit just days before the draft took place.

According to Winstons lawyer, “Ms. Kinsman has been successful in one major area…She has mounted a false and vicious media campaign to vilify Mr. Winston with the objective of getting him to pay her,” and he makes a great point about the numerous failed investigations. From Winston’s prospective, his argument does seem just in the sense that it is very likely that he has lost out on a lot of money solely based of the black cloud that hovered over him in college.

I’m sure the countless lawsuits have lead Winston to miss out on great endorsement deals and partnerships because companies are probably looking at Winston as a risk and it is definitely better to be safe than sorry in the long run. It will definitely be interesting to see how the court handles these matters given the background of the story.
