AP APTOPIX COWBOYS GIANTS FOOTBALL S FBN USA NJ

Odell Beckham Jr beat out the Party boy tight end Rob Gronkowski, to become the youngest player at 22-years-old to grace the cover of Madden. With only 12 games under his belt, Beckham Jr still managed to have a magical rookie season that earned the Giants wide receiver offensive rookie of the year award and a trip to Hawaii to participate in the pro bowl.

Now with Odell Beckham Jr gracing the cover of Madden, comes the concern with the “madden curse.” Cover athletes that appear on the game seem to have trouble staying healthy the next season or playing up to expectations put on them. Combined with the “sophomore slump” Beckham seems to have a lot of work cut out for him.

Last years cover athlete, Richard Sherman, looked like he was set to avoid the curse but then badly injured his arm in the playoffs against the Green Bay Packers.
