brainsurgery

I’ve seen a lot of things in my life but nothing like this. A man from Brazil was laying on an operating table playing a guitar and singing–all while his brain was getting operated on. Click more to check out the video!

A doctor recently allowed a man to play his guitar while having surgery. This is not your typical surgery, not that any are, in the sense that the man’s head was getting operated on. Apparently, doctors were removing a tumor from the man’s brain. If I were having such a risky surgery, I think I would want to have the opportunity to do something I love if there was a chance I could lose the ability.

I didn’t even know it was possible to be awake while having your brain operated on. You definitely learn something new everyday. Doctors had the man awake to watch activity in his brain and to see if there were any areas that promote motor skills that were affected by the tumor. The man, Anthony, Dias, can been seen in the video playing “Yesterday” by the Beatles.

The Video…

According to doctors, the brain cannot sense any pain and this is how the man is able to perform without feeling the poking and cutting that was taking place in his head. Also, the surgery was completely successful. The main surgeon was able to remove 90% of the tumor and the patient, Anthony Dias, said he was completely pain free as well.

The human body is definitely an amazing piece of art to say the least!
