Logic sat down with DJ Vlad to talk about how he ended up with his deal at Def Jam Recordings. The Maryland native touched on how he got his break in the industry after his friend Lenny let him crash at his house. Logic, along with Visionary Music Group head honcho Chris Z, had one year to get his priorities in order. He worked on nothing but making music.

“First and foremost, Lenny let me live in his basement. I didn’t have to get a job or anything. He put clothes on my back and food in my stomach and provided me a place to just work on my music. We kinda had this agreement that you’ll have one year… And in that time I met Chris. Five months after that is when I signed my deal.”

While he and Chris shopped his music around, several indie labels threw offers at Logic left and right. One company went as far as offering him $2 million dollars just to sign.

“I think I remember me and Chris were working together for like three months and we had deal for $2 million dollars on the table from an independent company. We were still in the basement.”
