Paul Pierce showed us all during the playoffs that he is still a very important player to have on your team during crunch time. He still is clutch for big shots which is part of the reason he says he definitely will return next season. The question now becomes what team will he play for?

@IamJoeSports

According to a report in the Washington Post, Pierce will either return to the Wizards or join the Los Angeles Clippers to be reunited with his former head coach Doc Rivers. None of this is really new information, except for the fact Pierce is confirming he still does want to play.

The Clippers can acquire Pierce by offering him the taxpayer mid-level exception worth slightly less than $3.4 million. Washington will be able to offer Pierce a new deal starting in excess of $6 million once he opts out.

Pierce, a Los Angeles native, won the 2008 NBA title with the Celtics while Rivers was the coach.

The Wizards likely would love to have him back for the veteran leadership he brings to the locker room and like I said earlier, the simple fact he is probably the most clutch player on the team.

Free agency will be very interesting this summer.
