If you let Carmelo Anthony tell it, he seems to be pretty happy with what the Knicks did on draft night, even though all other reports point to otherwise. Melo got into some exchanges with fans on Instagram yesterday where he actually seemed to praise the pick of Kristaps Porzingis, calling him a “steal”. Things didn’t stay cool for long though because then Melo was going back and forth with fans trying to come at him.

Melo usually stays away from the negativity on social media, but every once in a while he will hit “send” when he maybe should just ignore it. After reports yesterday claimed Melo was feeling betrayed by Phil Jackson after the moves he made on draft night, there were many people feeling some type of way towards Melo.
On the flip side, there were just as many people who felt him, considering he is already in his early 30’s and he doesn’t necessarily have the time for Porzingis to blossom into a real weapon to help him. People like Stephen A Smith and Frank Isola both claimed that Melo was feeling angry and pretty much was regretting staying with the Knicks, but sometimes guys like this and their “sources” can kind of take over and it makes things seem bigger than what they are.
Melo responded to some fans on Instagram and pretty much killed any negativity. Not only did he call Porzingis a steal, he also said he can’t wait to play with him. Now yes, I realize that’s pretty much what he is expected to say in public, but he seemed to be all good. The negativity didn’t start until some bozo fans started throwing shots and thinking they had the answers for Melo. Once fans start questioning your money and your knowledge of the triangle offense, the conversation is going to take a different turn.
Good news overall for Knicks fans though is the reports from overzealous reporters seem to be exaggerated and everything is all good in MSG. Check the gallery to see the interactions between Melo and fans.
I feel that Melo is making a bigger mess of 5 Boroughs Basketball than it needs to be. I think the real status update is La La might pull options for divorce, but “Collecting” 200 Million vs. “Earning” 200 Million All Time like Air Jordan vs. Inflation is wrong. Worse than wrong, 5 Boroughs Hockey is out of nowhere ripe for revival that didn’t exist last Summer. I think IF there is a new owner, which is a gargantuan IF, Phil Jackson can’t even take a decent buyout and he was not made for managing like he coached.
