It’s always sad bittersweet when someone decides to move on to the next chapter in their lives, especially when they are so good at what they do. Today celebrity blogger Necole Bitchie posted her last entry on NecoleBitchie.com. After giving 7 years to her site and going through various struggles and triumphs, the blogger has decided it’s time to move on. Find out what she had to say about her life and new chapter after the jump.
“This is probably the most difficult thing I’ve ever had to do…And I will cry after I write this.I’m am very sadden to announce that today is my last day as a ‘celebrity gossip blogger.’ It’s also my last day running the site as you know it, NecoleBitchie.com.”
That is how celebrity blogger Necole Bitchie started off her final post of her blogging career. After giving her all and 7 years to her site Necole will be starting a new chapter. In her final post she tells readers all about her struggles to get the webesite started and keep going when she felt like she had no other choice.
She said,
“My friend Lauren tells the story of one day waking up to me laying on her floor with my head resting on my computer. I had fell asleep while blogging!!!!! And that was the reality of my life at the time, I couldn’t really afford to log off my computer, unless it was to attend an event. I refused to send out any more resumes and work at a job I hated. Plan B? Forget about it, this was my only option, and I had to make it work.”
She hopes that her story will inspire other people especially young women, to follow their dreams and fulfill their visions. She said, “I had a vision of how big my site could be…but what I didn’t know was that God’s plan for me was bigger than my vision.”
Her career as a blogger opened many doors for her. She was featured in several magazines including Cosmo and Ebony, went on tour with Rihanna, and offered TV and movie roles. Because she worked hard to fulfill her dreams she said,
“I was able to upgrade from those couches I was sleeping on to my own bed. And the best part of it all was that it happened to a small town girl, who’s vision was greater than the amount of money she had to make it happen. Won’t he do it! If I could do it, anyone can!”
Things really started to come together for the young blogger when women would come up to her and tell her how much her story inspired them rather than when she was able to break a big story about a celebrity. She realized she got more joy from being able to inspire and engage people and decided she wanted to be more than just a celebrity blogger. This decision is what started her down her newest life path.
She found herself questioning her life. She said,
“When all is said and done, what will people say about you? How are you elevating your audience? What are you doing to contribute to your culture in a positive way? Are you doing a good job of pushing the culture forward? How are you touching people and changing their lives?”
She wasn’t able to answer these questions for herself which she found troubling and ultimately decided “The ‘Bitchie’ in the website name was always going to be counterproductive to the mission I had of being a source of inspiration, and launching a platform for women to tell their stories.” She added, “There is a constant internal struggle between being a character –Necole Bitchie—when I walk out in public, and being the women I know I was meant to be. Eventually, I began feeling like I wasn’t doing enough and I would never reach my goals. I felt stuck! I felt boxed in!”
Even though her seven year journey with the gossip site has come to an end, it’s not the end of Necole, rather just her ‘character’ Necole Bitchie. She said,
Although it is the end of Necole Bitchie – it’s not the end of my life journey. I’ve only scratched the surface of my true potential. As I transition into my next chapter over the next few months, and hopefully launch something new and positive, I can only hope for your continued support.It’s not a ‘good bye!’ per say. It’s a ‘See you soon!’
