It looks like everyone was feeling in the spirit over this 4th of July weekend. During the Women’s World Cup Finals, yesterday, Beyonce took to Instagram to show her support for the United States!
Yesterday, the USA Women’s Soccer team won its first World Cup since 1999 and they did it in dominating fashion. Right out of the gate, Carli Lloyd lead her team to three goals within the first 15 minutes of play. In soccer, it can take hours to get just one point on the board, but three within 15 miunutes? That is just greatness.
The Women’s Soccer team definitely had many people feeling patriotic and supporting the squad and that includes Beyonce and her family. Beyonce took to Instagram to show off her and Blue Ivy’s personalized soccer jerseys; and I can’t front, they are pretty dope. Beyonce’s jersey has her name ‘Yonce’ with the number 4 while Blue’s read BIC and that is obviously short for Blue Ivy Carter.
With Beyonce’s support of the soccer team, I would not be surprised if ratings for the sport continue to boost. Soccer is definitely a world renowned sport, but it’s popularity in the United States is not too high. If games could be as exciting and high scoring as it was yesterday, then I’m sure it could become one of the more popular sports in this country.
Also, I can imagine the sale of soccer jerseys going up even more now as well. You may remember when Beyonce featured her Derrick Rose bathing suit jersey in Nicki Minaj’s ‘Feeling Mysel’ video that the sale of those jumped right out of the window! Talk about power and influence.
