Indiana Pacers v New York Knicks

Paul George’s career was skyrocketing, he was being mentioned among the likes of LeBron James and Kevin Durant and then during an exhibition game with Team USA, he suffered a gruesome injury as his leg snapped after trying to chase down a block.  He missed majority of last season and the Indiana Pacers missed the playoffs.  This upcoming season, he will be totally healthy and ready to go, and he already has a lofty goal in mind.

“After being draft into the NBA, I was playing from the bench and then tried to be a starter, then an All-Star. My goal now is set to be MVP. This year, that hasn’t changed,” George told fans at a Beijing Nike store.

Unfortunately the Pacers took some blows.  While they did pick up Monta Ellis, they lost Lance Stephenson, David West, Roy Hibbert and Luis Scola.  George will have to shoulder much of the load and if he puts up monster numbers it will definitely put him in MVP talks but if he isn’t able to carry the team then he’ll end up in a Russell Westbrook type situation.

Many of the teams in the East have gotten better so even making the playoffs isn’t so simple a task anymore.
