Yandy Smith and Mendeecees recently tied the knot on a big extravagant TV special that aired on VH1’s Love & Hip-Hop: New York. However, Erica Mena revealed that it was originally intended for her and Shad Moss (Bow Wow) but she rejected the idea.
“The wedding special was ours. And then we turned it down, so Yandy (Smith) got it…process of elimination,” Erica Mena told Global Grind in an interview.
“That whole getting married live, having the fans pick the cake, all that stuff… That was my idea,” she stated, further more explaining that she turned the wedding offer down because they didn’t want their wedding (or their relationship) to be taken as a joke.
“I didn’t want it to be a s**t show. Marriage is a serious thing.”
“We wanted it to be very sentimental. We wanted it done very tasteful and meaningful at the same time. We wanted to involve the viewers, because people have seen me go through so much turmoil and drama and heartbreak,” she said.
“I’ve been through so much and I can’t cheat myself anymore. I’ve done that for four years being on that show,” Mena added.
The two then engaged in a petty betty battle on Twitter a month back, throwing shots at one another over the wedding drama. I’m guessing that’s what fueled the fire for Ms. Mena to start going off during the interview. Check out the Twitter drama in the gallery if you missed it before!
