Over the weekend, U.S. Navy veteran and Ferguson, Missouri resident Peggy Hubbard had the social media world in a frenzy. The Black woman joined two topics – two white police officers killing Mansur Ball-Bey, a young black man and a stray bullet hitting 9-year-old Jamyla Bolden, with his assailant being unknown – that forced the Ferguson residents to protest against the police again, and expressed her disdain for the protest, which is backed by the Black Lives Matter movement.
“You’re hollering this ‘black lives matter’ bulls**t. It don’t matter,” she said in the video.
Hubbard made an attempt to get across that while these protests against white police officers are going on, protestors should voice their opinion on Black-on-Black crime.
“You’re killing each other. White people don’t care … You’re shooting at the police. They drop your ass. ‘Oh, he died due to police brutality.’ 327 homicides later y’all want to holler police brutality? Black people, you’re a f**king joke. You’re tearing up communities over thugs and criminals.” Hmm …

Last night, who do you think they protested for? The thug. The criminal. Because they’re hollering police brutality. Are you fucking kidding me? Police brutality? How about black brutality.
Hubbard said that due to all of the positive feedback, she doesn’t plan to put a stop to making her voice be heard. “This is not a race issue. It never has been a racial issue,” she said. How Sway? “This is about accountability and responsibility,” she continues.
Following her rant, “I had a lot of positive feedback from a lot of people from my black community to keep going,” she wrote in a follow-up post. “I also had a lot of negative feedback from people in black communities.” On Saturday, after more reflection, she posted a new video. She began by apologizing for her profane language. “That is not me,” she said, explaining that she was very upset “because of the deterioration of our society and our neighborhoods, and losing that little girl. As a mother, as a wife, as a grandmother … I have a grandchild that age, and it broke my heart, because what if it was mine?”
While I understand there is Black-on-Black crimes going on in the world, the Black Lives Matter movement is much better. Surely, if Hubbard would have focused on Black-on-Black, her video would have come off in a better light.
