Every movement worth mentioning has had its critiques; and the Black Lives Matter one is no different. As the three words have ventured from a Twitter hashtag to marches in the streets for social justice, the movement still has a ways to go; and apparently Wale has the answer for which direction is should take.

During a chat with Revolt TV, the DC native shows his support for Black Lives Matter, however, he believes that some minor changes need to be made. So what is the ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement missing?

“I want Black lives to matter to Black lives more,” he said. “Modifying the morale of the people starts within, it starts with us.” Wale continues on to say, “It’s been easy to blame other people for stuff like that and point the finger, but Black lives should matter to Black lives. I don’t really care about trying to rally up people for the wrong reasons. I want us to realize the power that we got within ourselves and to love ourselves more. This should really be the first objective as far as understanding the whole ‘black lives’ thing. I don’t think we love ourselves enough as much as we used to.”

Black Lives Matter protests have frequented presidential speeches and then some. The interruptions are with the hopes that political figures have a stance on the matter of injustice for Black lives.
