Serena Williams is debatably America’s favorite tennis player, her sister, Venus being the leading contender, of course. Well, after being knocked out of the finals by Roberta Vinci at the U.S. Open, Serena is being missed by event coordinators and fans alike.

According to reports, the WTA Finals is missing its main attraction, Serena Williams.

Serena was knocked out of the finals by Italian tennis star, Roberta Vinci. The loss was a shock to everyone, including Serena, who’s season came to an abrupt stop.

Flavia Pennetta is another contender in the tournament and is making both her debut and farewell during this year’s finals. The 33-year old announced her retirement at the post-semi-finals ceremony in New York.

Pennetta talked about the tournament and said that she is focused on winning this finals tourney and maybe enjoying it along the way.

“I don’t exactly know what my plans are as I need to first finish here. I am really focused on my job, (I will) do what I have to do, finish this week and enjoy it a little bit as well.”

Serena was only two games away from winning her fourth straight season.
