Drake is nominated for a few Grammys for the upcoming show, but none are for his smash single, “Hotline Bling.” He’s actually instead nominated for his Meek Mill diss “Back To Back,” and word on the street is he’s not too happy about it. And who would be? It was a silly beef that’s mostly over now, and instead of being praised for a single you’re actually pushing and want to be behind, you’re nominated for something you did haphazardly.

According to reports, the blame can actually be placed on Cash Money. At first, it was thought that perhaps “Hotline Bling” missed the Grammys‘ September 30th, 2015 deadline, but if you’ll recall, the song was actually released over the summer. HDD instead reveals that CMR merely forgot to submit the record to the committee, and that’s the soul reason it wasn’t in the batch.

If you’re unfamiliar with the process, a record label or authorized representative must submit your music to the Grammy committee to be voted on, and it’s then you may or may not end up as a nominee. They then vote again, and that’s how the winner is decided. There are obviously flaws in this system, because it doesn’t go based on music that’s proven to be a success based on sales and impressions, and who’s to say the people responsible for picking winners even know a thing about hip-hop beyond what their grandkids say is “cool.” That’s what it is, though!
