This is so strange. A fan was watching Whoopi Goldberg’s 1991 Christmas film Call Me Claus, when they noticed a very young Tinashe! However, her skin was many shades darker than it is today, and upon further inspection, they realized they’d put the mixed-race singer in blackface! What in the world?

They later asked Tinashe about it on Twitter, and she replied:

“Lol I was cast as an actress. Don’t ask me why they chose to hire me tho & the makeup was LOL”

So many questions! Why didn’t they simply cast an actress with a darker skintone if that’s what they really wanted? Why did the makeup artist not get her neck if they were really committing? Why did her parents allow this? SMH!
